What Does the Liposuction Procedure Involve?
Liposuction procedures are performed in our fully accredited, state-of-the-art surgery center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. During the liposuction procedure, a thin cannula will be inserted into the treatment areas through small incisions to suction and extract the targeted fat cells. Once the desired results are achieved, the incisions are carefully closed with techniques to promote the least amount of visible scarring possible.

What Can I Expect During Liposuction Recovery?
Recovery time after liposuction varies among patients based on:
- The amount of fat removed
- The number of areas treated
- The overall extent of the procedure
Although each individual’s experience varies, here is the typical timeline of a return to activity for most patients:
- Light work within a few days for smaller liposuction procedures
- Up to a week or more for larger procedures
- For many patients, more strenuous exercise can often resume in three to four weeks
Any residual swelling, bruising, or discomfort during the recovery period can be managed with medication. It is important to note that each patient will be provided with specific recovery recommendations and post-operative guidelines that should be closely followed in order to achieve the safest, smoothest recovery possible.
How Long Will Liposuction Results Last?
During your consultation, one of our plastic surgeons will evaluate the amount of loose skin in the abdominal area, as well as the condition of your abdominal muscles. They can also evaluate the amount of excess fat to eliminate and determine if liposuction and/or a state-of-the-art option such as Renuvion® skin tightening may be necessary to achieve your desired goals. Renuvion® is an innovative device that combines the rejuvenating power of radiofrequency energy and helium plasma to tighten areas of sagging or “loose” skin. It is often used in tandem with procedures such as abdominoplasty or liposuction to help the skin contract and enhance the results of those treatments for a smoother, firmer look. Renuvion® is the only device of its kind cleared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for use after liposuction. It is also the only FDA-cleared device for subcutaneous tissue contraction.

Complementary Procedures

- Fat Grafting – Excess fat removed via liposuction from one body area can be re-injected into another with a fat grafting procedure. This technique can improve or augment areas where more volume and enhanced contour is desired, such as the breasts, buttocks, cheeks, and lips.
- Tummy Tuck – A tummy tuck procedure can tighten weakened abdominal musculature and loose skin affecting the abdominal area for a flatter, more fit look.
- Mommy Makeover – Two or more procedures can be combined as part of a Mommy Makeover to restore the contours and appearance of a woman’s body after pregnancy. Common options include liposuction, breast augmentation, breast lift surgery, and tummy tuck surgery.
