What is a Dermaplane?

Dermaplane is a non-surgical treatment that uses a special tool to gently but effectively strokes the skin. This tool, angled at 45-degrees, will glide across the skin, while one of our licensed aestheticians holds to skin, removing any “peach fuzz” or small hairs, as well as dead skin cells.

Although dermaplane can be performed on it’s own, it is also effective in preparing skin for other treatments, such as a chemical peel, to enhance the results. Dermaplane is an advanced form of exfoliation that is used with or without chemicals. As a standalone treatment, dermaplane does not require downtime and effectively improves the appearance of acne scars, and restoring your smoothest complexion possible.

What are the benefits of having a dermaplane?

Patients experience some of the best results from dermaplane. The main benefits of this treatment include:

  • Removes peach fuzz, or soft facial hair, that collects dirt and oil into the skin
  • Enhances the results of other skincare treatments, including microdermabrasion and chemical peels.
  • Smooths recent acne scars

  • Immediate results without any downtime

Dermaplane FAQs

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Your Dermaplaning treatment will take from 30 to 45 minutes depending on the exact change that needs to be done.

How Does Dermaplaning Differ from Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels use acids and enzymes to remove dead skin cells and causes the skin to peel in the days following the procedure to achieve optimal exfoliation. The dermaplaning treatment is an exfoliation process done manually by the specialist and does not cause your skin to peel or shed over the course of a few days. Dermaplaning is an effective exfoliation treatment that does not come with downtime such as a chemical peel.

How Should I Care for My Skin After Dermaplaning?

Your skin will be a little sensitive following your dermaplaning treatment. It is important to treat the skin gently. Wearing sunscreen is important as well as avoiding any harsh cleansers for scrubbing the skin for the first two days following the treatment. Dermaplaning does not require any harsh recovery time, you are free to shower, wear makeup, and exercise normally following the treatment.

What Are the Side Effects of Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a very low-risk procedure with few possible side effects. Some patients may experience slight redness following the treatment but that should resolve on its own within a few hours.

What Area(s) Can Be Treated with Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning treatment is only done on the face for skin rejuvenation.

Who is a Candidate for Dermaplaning?

The dermaplaning treatment has been proven to be safe for all skin types for men and women alike.
